About SKG Financial

An accounting firm in the Greater Toronto Area, working with incorporated owner-managed businesses across every industry, with added depth in contractors and trades, health and wellness clinics, and med spas.

Every client has a lead on their file year-round, so the person who answers your question in March is the one who prepared your return in November.

What clients say

In their words

5.0 on Google

SKG has done our corporate taxes for a few years now. They tell me what to send, I send it, they handle the rest.

Shaun, Superior Power Electric

I close a lot of deals in a month and my books used to be a mess by year end. SKG keeps everything up to date and files my HST on time.

Rajan, Property Plug Real Estate

We moved our bookkeeping to SKG two years ago. Reports show up every month without me asking and the numbers actually make sense.

Michael, JMT Security Services

What we actually believe about small business accounting

The return is the easy part. Anyone with software can file a T2. The value is in the eleven months before it: the month the equipment was bought, the services HST was collected on, whether the person you call a subcontractor is one, and the cheapest way to take money out.

Industry knowledge is not a marketing angle. It is the reason a contractor's holdbacks are accounted for properly and a clinic's exempt and taxable split survives a CRA review.

Fixed fees, because the alternative punishes the wrong behaviour. Hourly billing gives clients a reason not to call, which is backwards. A question asked in advance costs fifteen minutes. Asked afterwards, it costs everyone more.

Say the number. A quote before the work starts, in writing, itemised. If the scope changes we requote before doing the work.

Be straight about fit. If your business sits outside what we do well, we say so on the first call rather than learning it on your file.

What moving your file to us actually involves

Who we are a good fit for

  • Incorporated owner-managed businesses, roughly $150,000 to $5 million in revenue
  • Owners who want one firm handling the corporation and the family's personal returns
  • General owner-managed corporations, which is most of what we do
  • Businesses in contracting and trades, health clinics, or cosmetic practice, where the industry rules matter on top of that
  • People who would rather have a conversation in October than a surprise in April

Who we are not a good fit for

  • Businesses wanting the cheapest possible T2 and nothing else. That is a real service and other firms provide it well
  • Companies needing an audit or review engagement
  • Public companies, and businesses with significant international structuring needs
  • Anyone looking for aggressive positions. We file returns that we are comfortable defending
